A Whimsical Sculpture Exhibition
1 - 13 August
Opening: 1 August, Friday, 18:00-21:00

Port art Gallery hosts Cemal Bodur's 'Tools' exhibition. These works has the common ground of having been created by a designer's logic. They combine the use of everyday tools with the human elements -especially the female body-, and become the playful, whimsical and aesthetical. By breaking the notion of "untouchability of the artwork", these works gain a symbolic utility to be an active part of daily life. The show can be visited in Port Art Gallery, located at Port Göcek Marina, every day from 9:00 to 22:00.

Architect - Designer - Sculptor, Cemal Bodur was born in 1945 in Ankara, Bodur completed schooling in Istanbul. In 1970, he received his BA degree in architecture. Between 1972 and 97, he produced his own furniture, lighting and accessory designs through his design company "Ce Donatim". Ce Donatim undertook design and application of many national and international architecture projects successfully.

Since 1997, Bodur continues realizing his passion of sculpting by combining his technical knowledge with his artistical fermantation. Through solo and group exhibitions, his unique style keeps gaining a wide interest from many artlovers and collectors.

A well-known Turkish writer, Ferit Edgü, describes Bodur's works as follows:
"Plyers, compass, hammer, axe... You will see that these familiar tools have new lives, because the hands of an artist with an extensive imagination touched them."
